Support For Local Businesses During Construction
The City of Kenmore is taking steps to minimize the impacts that the SR 522 Improvement Project is having on local businesses:

  • Before major construction began, staff conducted a business survey to understand unique business needs and to make sure business owners had contact information for the project team.
  • Construction crews are maintaining both pedestrian and vehicle access to businesses during construction.
  • Crews give advance notification of night work.
  • Temporary signage is provided to alert patrons that businesses are open.
  • There is a project e-mail info@KenmoreSR522.com and project Web site to convey current construction information.
  • Periodic construction updates are provided by e-mail and/or fax; e-mail the project team if you’d like to receive the updates.
  • Flyers are distributed in-person when construction activities are in close proximity to homes and businesses.
  • Project updates are circulated in the quarterly Kenmore Newsletter and the monthly Kenmore E-News.
  • Staff has held several open houses and public meetings to provide information and answer questions on the project.

Technical Assistance to Local Businesses Free of Cost
Local businesses are very important to the City of Kenmore. In combination with the communication tools mentioned above, the City is partnering with The Business Development Center (BDC) at the University of Washington Bothell to provide technical services to local businesses free of cost. Some free services include:

  • Marketing planning
  • Budget and cash flow projections for the period of the construction project
  • Loan application assistance
  • Promotions and advertising
  • Technology management
Business Development Counselors will work collaboratively with business owners, either on a one on one basis, or with a student consulting team to tailor their services to achieve the business owner’s goals.

In order to take advantage of these services, businesses can contact the BDC directly at 425-352-3664 or bdcinfo@uwb.edu.
